After the escalation of tension in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, Moscow expresses serious concern, said Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian foreign ministry, RIA Novosti reports.

"We express serious concern regarding the escalation of tension in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. During the last few days, repeated violations of the ceasefire regime have been registered. On March 5, an armed incident took place, as a result of which there were human casualties on both the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides," said Zakharova.

The official representative of the Russian foreign ministry added that Moscow calls on the parties to take steps for restraint and de-escalation, as well as confirms the need to observe the provisions of the November 9, 2020 statement by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia on a complete ceasefire and military operations in the conflict zone.

"The incident [on Sunday] once again confirms the imperative of Baku and Yerevan to return as soon as possible to the trilateral talks—within the framework of the implementation of the provisions of the statements by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia on November 9, January 11, 2020, November 26, 2021, as well as October 31, 2022—, including those related to the unblocking of regional communications, the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, and the preparation of a peace treaty," concluded the official representative of the Russian foreign ministry.
