Iran has finally agreed on the purchase of Su-35 fighter jets from Russia, RIA Novosti was informed by the permanent representation of Iran at the United Nations (UN).
After the end of the 1988 Iran-Iraq war, Iran petitioned to a number of countries with a request to buy fighter jets, and Russia announced that it was open to selling them, noted the permanent representation of Iran at the UN.
Su-35 fighters are technically acceptable to Iran. So, after October 2020 and the cancellation of the restrictions on Iran to purchase conventional weapons, Tehran has finally agreed on a deal to purchase them.
However, the permanent representation of Iran at the UN did not say when this deal was agreed, and how many Su-35s are planned to be sent from Russia to Iran and when.
