More than 820,000 buildings will not be able to be used after the recent earthquakes in Turkey, the country’s minister of environment, urbanization, and climate change announced.

"We have completed damage assessment in 5 out of 11 provinces. Out of 1 million 706 thousand buildings, 821 thousand 302 buildings are on the verge of collapse or are moderately destroyed," Murat Kurum said on the air of TRT television.

Two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6, respectively, occurred nine hours apart on February 6 in Kahramanmaras Province in southeastern Turkey. These quakes affected 11 provinces of the country and its neighboring countries, including Syria.
