Consultations between Armenia and Iran are progressing quite intensively at the level of consultations between both the foreign ministers and foreign ministries, Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan told reporters on Wednesday.

"This is largely due to the fact that the Armenian-Iranian agenda has expanded in recent years, and the foreign ministries are called to help serve that agenda which is quite large. It includes many economic programs which we are trying to implement with joint efforts, and we are trying to make the positions related to international and regional security more comprehensible to each other. In this regard, it is necessary that the consultations are not interrupted, they be periodic," he said.

The Armenian deputy FM emphasized that the entire Armenian-Iranian agenda, including regional security issues, was touched upon in the discussions with his Iranian counterpart.

"You know that especially during the last few days, the foreign ministry [of Armenia] presents—also through statements disseminated by it—the situation that has been created in the region and the attempts of provocative actions of Azerbaijan, which are aimed at further destabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus, the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor; and all of this was thoroughly presented to our Iranian colleagues," Kostanyan stressed.

And reflecting on the prospects for Armenia’s military cooperation with Iran, the Armenian deputy FM said: "We are currently focusing on the agenda we have with Iran."
