NATO members are currently unable to reach a consensus on Ukraine accession to the alliance, TASS reports, citing NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană.

“At the moment we don't see a consensus within NATO," he told dcnews.ro. “And I think that President Zelenskyy also understands that at a time when such a big and complicated war is going on, the topic of Ukraine’s accession to NATO should be put on hold.”
This does not mean, he said, that certain decisions will not be made at the alliance's summit in Vilnius, including on raising the NATO-Ukraine Commission to the level of the NATO-Ukraine Council. “Now it is clear that Ukraine is closer to NATO, to Western democracies than ever,” Geoană stressed.

“In Vilnius, our leaders will approve the most important change in NATO's military strategy, military planning, force structure and command in the past 50 years," the deputy secretary general of the alliance said. “For the first time we will have – both in Romania and in the Black Sea area – a cohesive defense strategy that we have never had before.”
