Armen Ashotyan, vice-chairman of the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), is included the case into the former rector of Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU), RPA member Artak Zakaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Zakaryan added that Ashotyan was detained from his home and is now at the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
A criminal prosecution was launched against former YSMU rector Mikayel Narimanyan. According to the prosecutor's office, the prosecution was launched for the embezzlement of 39,660,000 drams (approx. US$103,000) of property entrusted to him and entrusted to his management by using his official position.
Ashotyan had reflected on that case, noting that he will be the next one.
According to news circulating in the press, Narimanyan was arrested in order to testify against Ashotyan.
