Russian Ambassador Sergey Kopyrkin is at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia. The RFE/RL Armenian Service correspondent observed how the ambassador entered the MFA building, and the ministry has confirmed it.

Kopyrkin did not answer the question whether he was summoned to the MFA due to the recent events in the Lachin corridor or whether it was a pre-planned visit.

The MFA said it will provide information about the meeting later.

Armenia reported Thursday that an attempt by the Azerbaijanis to advance towards the Hakari bridge on the Lachin corridor was prevented. According to the National Security Service, Azerbaijanis tried to place their flag on the territory of Armenia.

Armenian authorities announced Friday that they consider the aforesaid incident in the Lachin corridor—in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers—to be a very big problem, and that they were talking about it with their Russian partners.

From the videos on the attempt to place an Azerbaijani flag on the Hakari bridge, it is assumed that the process was monitored by the Russian peacekeepers; in one case, forming a human wall.

The Russian ambassador to Armenia on Friday did not give any comment to RFE/RL Armenian Service about how he evaluates the actions of the Russian peacekeepers in the Lachin corridor.
