Warning about the creation of the "Zangezur corridor" between Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan from the south of Armenia, Mohammad Ismail Alikhani, an Iranian expert on Caucasus issues, noted that "if the corridor is opened, Armenia will lose its connection with the south, and Armenians will have to get permission from Baku to travel to and from Iran."
According to ParsToday, Alikhani, the former representative of Iran in the SCAP transport committee, speaking about the "Zangezur corridor", said: "If Armenia grants territory to Azerbaijan in the south, on the border with Iran, it will cease to be Iran's neighbor."
"Iran has the shortest shared border with Armenia (38 km). It is one of the gateways of communication between Iran and Europe and is of great importance. In this situation, if the ‘Zangezur corridor’ is created, Armenia will lose its connection with the south; and to go to Iran, Armenians must have Azerbaijan's consent and permission.”
