The authorities of Abkhazia have tightened control on the borders with Russia and Georgia and instructed to take critical infrastructure facilities under protection due to the situation in the Russian Federation. This was reported by the press service of the presidential administration of Abkhazia following the meeting of Vice President Badra Gunba with the heads of law enforcement agencies, RIA Novosti reports.

The State Security Service of Abkhazia has been instructed to strengthen control at border crossings along the Enguri and Psou rivers and to protect all critical infrastructure facilities. The Ministry of Defense and the State Security Service of the Republic of Abkhazia have been instructed to be in constant contact with representatives of the 7th Military Base of the Russian Armed Forces and the Russian Border Guard Service in Abkhazia. The Ministry of Internal Affairs was instructed to promptly strengthen a set of measures to protect public security, including during planned mass events.
