Political consultations were held Monday in Yerevan between the foreign affairs ministries of Armenia and India, Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Within the framework of these consultations, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan received a delegation headed by Sumit Seth, Head of Foreign Policy Planning Division at the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
During the political consultations, the parties discussed the priorities and priority issues of the foreign policies of Armenia and India, and the main functions of the policy development and planning departments operating within the foreign ministries of the two countries.
The parties emphasized the growing dynamics of bilateral friendly relations, discussed the importance of high-level Armenian-Indian contacts, intensification of interdepartmental relations and political dialogue agenda. The parties expressed their willingness to make additional efforts to further deepen the relations between the two countries.
Reference was made to a wide range of matters related to international and regional security, as well as to the strengthening of bilateral economic, cultural and educational ties, cooperation in international organizations, and promotion of the establishment of communication channels between Armenia and India.
Also, Armenian deputy FM Safaryan briefed the Indian side on the aggressive actions carried out by Azerbaijan in the recent period and to this day, which threaten stability and peace in the South Caucasus. The importance of quickly overcoming the humanitarian crisis created in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan was stressed, too.
