The United States does not support cross-border shooting that could endanger any civilian. The US calls for the simultaneous withdrawal of troops from both sides to reduce the likelihood of such incidents. Kristina Kvien, the US Ambassador to Armenia, said this on the air of Public Television.

Referring to the remark that it may be necessary to adjust the security balance of Armenia for stable talks with Azerbaijan, and to the question whether the United States sees a potential to help in the security issue, the ambassador responded that the US has security relations with Armenia, the US is already doing things according to Armenia's request to help Armenia in security. For example, the US has been appreciating for a long time Armenia's participation in global peacekeeping efforts. The US has conducted numerous exercises and other activities with Armenia, through which the US helps the participation of Armenia in peacekeeping missions. According to Armenia's request, the US provided military medical technical means as well. Also, the US has exchange programs with Armenian army specialists; they come to the US and see how it operates. So, the US already has relations with Armenia in security, and they are discussing what else Armenia might need.

Commenting on Azerbaijan's demand for a "corridor" from Armenia, Kvien said that threatening rhetoric does not help, and it is not useful for moving forward in peace processes. She noted that the US has encouraged the parties to discuss how the transport system can be improved. To support this, the United States Agency for International Development has conducted a transport sector study for Armenia, which presents different routes not only for Azerbaijan, but in general. Kvien said the US wants to support it, and the two sides, in the end, should discuss how exactly it will happen.

The US ambassador to Armenia commented also on the remark that the issue of the country's sovereignty also arises in the case of the corridor.  Kristina Kvien said she believes that in general, having better transport routes in the region will only have a positive effect in the case of Armenia. It will help Armenian goods to reach other places, so that goods can be brought to Armenia from different places.
