Iran has received full membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). This is stated in the New Delhi declaration adopted as a result of the SCO summit.
The member states emphasized the historical importance of accepting Iran as a full member state in the SCO.
And as Iranian President of, Ebrahim Raisi stated in address at the Council of Heads of State of the SCO, full membership will improve the conditions for security, economic development, and ensuring sovereignty.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was founded in 2001. Its current members are Russia, India, China, Kazakhstan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan. Belarus has an observer’s status in this organization. And last July, Belarus submitted an application for full SCO membership.
