A Russian company will soon sign an agreement with Iran on the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway section within the framework of the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC). Igor Levitin, Russian presidential aide, informed RIA Novosti about this.
"The contract will be signed soon," he said.
He added that the North-South corridor is an opportunity for Russia to transport additional cargo, especially food products.
According to Levitin, the transportation tonnage along the entire INSTC is currently 15 million tons, but it will reach up to 30 million tons in the future.
