As part of his working visit to the United Kingdom (UK), Narek Mkrtchyan, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, met with former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair’s wife Cherie Blair, who heads the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women.
The parties discussed a number of matters related to the equality of women's and men's rights, gender policy, women's economic empowerment and ensuring their stable employment, and services provided to persons subjected to domestic violence, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Minister Mkrtchyan expressed his willingness to join the initiatives of the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women and implement them program in Armenia as well, and emphasized the need for joint efforts in the implementation of initiatives aimed at economic empowerment of women, which can be key platforms for their self-development and self-expression.
Also, the importance of taking continuous steps towards the expansion of cooperation was stressed, and an agreement was reached to sign a memorandum of cooperation.
