On July 8, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting in Croatia with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia Bujar Osmani, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia reports.
The interlocutors discussed issues of regional security.
Minister Mirzoyan presented his counterpart with the development of the security situation in South Caucasus, the position of the Armenian side on key issues in the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In the context of achieving long-term peace, the need to address issues of the rights and security of the people of [Artsakh] Nagorno-Karabakh was emphasized.
The security and humanitarian problems that arose in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor and aggressive actions were mentioned. Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the need for specific international steps to prevent Baku's policy of ethnic cleansing of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenian FM stressed that since June 15, the Azerbaijani side has been creating obstacles even for the unimpeded humanitarian access of the International Committee of the Red Cross to Nagorno-Karabakh.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on relations between the two countries, as well as on issues of interaction on international platforms, including the priorities and current challenges of the North Macedonian Chairmanship in OSCE.
