US President Joe Biden supports the idea of providing F-16 fighter jets to Turkey, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said.

According to him, President Biden has clearly stated within a few months that he is in favor of supplying F-16s to Turkey, and that move is in line with US national interests.

Sullivan added that increasing Turkey's potential is in line with NATO's interests, too.

Matthew Miller, Spokesperson of US Department of State, also stated that the US is in favor of providing F-16s to Turkey and approves the latter's wish to join the EU. He emphasized, however, that Sweden's NATO membership bid and the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey are two separate matters, Anadolu Agency reported.
