The offices of the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, have condemned the Azerbaijani ambassador to the EU, Vaqif Sadiqov, and described his demeanor as unacceptable.

Sadiqov had issued threats to the members of the European Parliament (MEPs) who had visited Armenia earlier and gotten familiarized with the situation on the border with Azerbaijan.

The ambassador of Azerbaijan to the EU was summoned to the European External Action Service (EEAS) for his threatening message made on Twitter to these MEPs.

Metsola's spokesperson stated that any threat to MEPs is unacceptable, and they are investigating this matter.

Borrell's office noted that Sadiqov was summoned to the EEAS and was clearly told that they expect this to be the last time when Azerbaijani diplomacy will show such disrespect towards EU institutions and their representatives.
