Tourists in European resorts are suffering from sweltering heat, АТОР reports.
France, Spain, Italy, Poland, and Germany have recorded sharp rises in daytime and nighttime temperatures amid what experts are calling "intense and prolonged period of heat." The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts said that June 2023 was the hottest on record in the world. According to its forecasts, temperature records in Europe for July may be updated.
In Italy, the record heat wave was symbolically named Cerberus - in honor of the three-headed monster guarding the gates of hell.
The highest level of hazardous weather was introduced in ten Italian cities, including Rome, Florence and Bologna. At least one person died due to high temperatures, and several tourists received heat stroke. Authorities have issued warnings advising people to stay indoors, avoid dehydration and refrain from drinking alcohol.
According to forecasts, thermometers in Sicily and Sardinia will show 48 degrees Celsius.
