The health condition of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) hero, former secretary of Artsakh Security Council Vitaly Balasanyan has worsened. Balasanyan's lawyer Rafayel Martirosyan said this in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“He needs medical intervention. I found out a little while ago that he needs to be taken to the hospital. He had a heart surgery; maybe that's the reason," added the attorney.

Referring to the reports of violence against Balasanyan, Martirosyan said: "I confirm that there are physical injuries on Balasanyan, which are recorded by the doctor."

Artsakh law enforcement officers detained Vitaly Balasanyan Thursday. He was taken into custody on suspicion of committing a crime under Article 337, Section 1 of the Artsakh Criminal Code, which defines “to use violence that is not dangerous to life or health against a representative of the authorities or his close relative, or threaten to use violence in connection with the performance of his official duties.”
