Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed with his Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai the possibility of using the cards of the Russian payment system Mir in Thailand, Lenta.ru reports.
“Today, with my colleague, Mr. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, we talked about the steps that need to be taken so that the cards of the Russian Mir payment system can be used here without any problems. It will give an additional impetus to the increase in the tourist flow,” Lavrov said.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry opened the Consulate General on the Thai island of Phuket with a solemn ceremony. Lavrov called Thailand one of the favorite vacation spots for Russians and added that the opening of the Consulate General is an important, but not the only step in expanding the Russian presence in Southeast Asia.
