The statement of the head of the European Council contains a number of very dangerous and bad ideas that violate not only international law, but also morality in general, Adviser to the President of Artsakh, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Babayan said in an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“We must record everything correctly, because the situation is such that any word and any idea, if it is not stopped in time, can lead to very bad consequences. Let me address Michel's statement point by point. […] Speaking about territorial integrity and sovereignty, he notes that the territory of Armenia is 29.8 thousand sq kilometers, and that of Azerbaijan - 86.6 thousand sq kilometers. The representative of the democratic community recognizes this [Artsakh being part of Azerbaijan], even if it means the unrecognized democratic country is part of a totalitarian country.

By stating that Azerbaijan expressed readiness to provide humanitarian assistance to Artsakh in the direction of [Akna] Agdam, Michel is the first to identify the [Lachin] Berdzor corridor with Agdam, that is, he does exactly what Aliyev wants. […] What does it mean? He cuts off Artsakh from Armenia, which works for the benefit of Azerbaijan. […] That’s why Aliyev says this is a very effective and acceptable format [Pashinyan-Michel-Aliyev Brussels meeting]. […] There is a decision of the international court, which says that the corridor should be open. So where does Agdam come from?” David Babayan said.

Referring to Charles Michel’s statement on the dialogue between the representatives of Baku and the Armenians of Artsakh, he noted that the expression "representatives of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast" is no longer acceptable and oversteps the bounds.

David Babayan reaffirmed his position that the popular struggle must continue and noted that Artsakh will not be part of Azerbaijan.
