Armen Ashotyan will continue to be in custody. His lawyer Tigran Atanesyan said that the court denied his appeal.

"As I easily predicted, the appellate corruption court rejected my challenge and appeal, and left political prisoner Armen Ashotyan in custody," Atanesyan wrote on Facebook.

Armen Ashotyan, former ruling party vice-chairman and ex-Minister of Education and Science of Armenia, has been placed under arrest for two months in connection with a criminal case related to Mikayel Narimanyan, former Rector of Yerevan State Medical University.
