The Council of the European Union has extended for a year the powers of the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar.
According to the Council's press service, Toivo Klaar was appointed to this position on November 13, 2017.
It is noted that Klaar's task is to promote the peaceful settlement of conflicts in the region, namely the crisis in Georgia and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as to encourage regional cooperation between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia and, if necessary, with neighboring countries.
