Members of an initiative called Batsum (“Opening” from Armenian) held a protest in front of the UN office in Yerevan and handed a letter regarding the reopening of the Lachin corridor that connects Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) to Armenia and the world closed by Azerbaijan for several months.

In the letter addressed to the UN Resident Coordinator Niels Scott the members of the initiative ask to urgently accept all the collected humanitarian aid and transport it from Armenia through the Lachin Corridor to Artsakh.

The initiative also said that its members are ready to provide the necessary voluntary assistance regarding the listing, sorting and transporting of the aid.

The protesters chanted, "Artsakh, we are with you", "Opening, connecting".

It has been several days that citizens are bringing basic supplies to the UN Yerevan office, expecting the UN to help transport it to the 120,000 residents of Artsakh that have been in blockade by Azerbaijan for more than six months now.

One of the members of the initiative informed that another gathering is planned on Azatutyun Square at 7 p.m. today.
