The cessation of humanitarian aid further exacerbates the deteriorating humanitarian situation and undermines confidence-building efforts in the peace process, the US Embassy in Armenia said in response to the question of how the continuation of the complete blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan contributed to the establishment of trust, peace and stability in the region, Pastinfo reports.
The United States is deeply concerned about Azerbaijan's ongoing blockade of the [Berdzor] Lachin Corridor. Open and free movement along the corridor should be immediately restored, the embassy stated.
"Direct dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan is essential to resolving this longstanding conflict. The conflict cannot have a military solution, and the solution of disputes through the use of force is unacceptable. The US is committed to building a peaceful and prosperous future in the South Caucasus region by promoting peace by any means, whether bilaterally, through engagement with the EU, or through the OSCE or other international organizations."
