Andrea González Nader has been named the new presidential candidate of Fernando Villavicencio's Movimiento Construye political party following his death during a campaign rally on Wednesday, CNN reports.
During Friday's nomination event in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, Nader appeared wearing a bulletproof vest.
59-year-old Villavicencio was buried in the Monteolivo cemetery in north Quito on Friday.
