Iran's Tolou-3 imaging satellite will be put into orbit by the end of the Iranian year (March 19, 2024), Rear Admiral Amir Rastegari, head of the Electronic Industries Organization, said on Saturday, Mehr reports. 

The Tolou-3 imaging satellite, commissioned by the Iranian Space Agency (ISA) and manufactured by Iran Electronics Industries, was unveiled in February 2023 during a ceremony attended by a number of senior Iranian officials in Tehran on the occasion of the country's National Space Day.

It is capable of capturing black-and-white images with a spatial resolution of five meters. It also has a resolution of 10 meters in color mode.

The satellite, which relies heavily on equipment and instruments produced by Iranian knowledge-intensive companies, is expected to be placed in orbit 500 kilometers above the Earth.

Iran launched its first Omid satellite in 2009 and its Rasad satellite was put into orbit in 2011.

In 2012, the Islamic Republic successfully launched its third indigenous satellite, Navid, into orbit.
