The last negotiations in Brussels showed that the parties [i.e. Armenia and Azerbaijan] are close to signing a peace agreement. Hadja Lahbib, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and the Federal Cultural Institutions of Belgium, stated this at the joint press briefing with Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Tuesday in Yerevan
"New consultations should be held in Brussels, Yerevan, and Baku; and we hope that they will lead to a historic turning point. To achieve this goal, the parties can count on the EU support," she added.
The Belgian FM welcomed the decision of the Armenian authorities to allow the deployment of EU monitors in Armenia’s border regions to ensure peace and stability.
According to her, these measures shall lead to the strengthening of trust between the parties.
Lahbib, emphasized that the heads of states should do everything so that the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples live peacefully.
