MOSCOW. – Nagorno-Karabakh will not face a wide range of military actions, especially involving large forces on both sides, head of the Alte Et Certe analytical bureau Andrei Yepifantsev stated at the online conference.

According to him, Azerbaijan has the opportunity in winning the war only in case of blitzkrieg, while currently it is impossible.

“In case military actions continue for 5-7 days, oil and gas will make Baku stop the war not to appear in danger. No big war is expected,” the expert believes and adds that the status-quo is not something desirable for Armenia as well.  

Postponing the status quo will bring prolongation of the blockade, evoking of economic issues, which will lead to widening the economic potential gap. Meantime, it is hard to say whether the gap will be so great in 10-15 years as to grant Azerbaijan an opportunity of blitzkrieg. In case it has the opportunity it will not hesitate a minute, Yepifantsev stated.

The region can achieve peace and stability only based on serious compromises on both sides. While none of them have yet realized it, the expert concluded.
