On Tuesday when the Azerbaijani trucks approached, some negotiations took place with the Russian peacekeepers. Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) National Assembly (NA) speaker Davit Ishkhanyan told this to a press conference Wednesday.

"The replacement of the commander of the Russian peacekeepers [in Artsakh] has just arrived in Artsakh and is not yet well-familiar with the internal situation. There are some episodes, elements that the Russian side needs to be better informed about. But those who are here, the relevant officials of the [Russian peacekeeping] contingent [in Artsakh], I am sure, are very well informed about our and the Azerbaijani side's approaches.

"These discussions have not yielded any results yet; at least the proposal of the Russian peacekeepers to allow vehicles to enter the territory of the Republic of Artsakh has not yielded any results. Measures have been taken by the Artsakh authorities, relevant structures, and these discussions are still ongoing, they are not finished. The general position of Artsakh and the respective explanations of the Russian side are very important here," said Ishkhanyan.

He added that the Russian side should also be aware of the general situation that exists and the views of the Artsakh side.

"I want to express hope that these negotiations end in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and have their logical conclusion. Our expectations must be met," emphasized the speaker of the Artsakh NA.
