Strasbourg participated in this initiative because urgent actions are needed. Jeanne Barseghian, the French Armenian mayor of Strasbourg, France, stated this in Armenia at Wednesday’s joint online press conference with the President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

According to her, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh said that only two days' supply of flour remained in Artsakh, explaining that the situation will worsen day by day.

To note, ten trucks of humanitarian aid have been sent for Artsakh from French capital Paris, as well as the Ile-de-France, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, Hauts-de-France, Occitanie, and Pays de la Loire regions of France.

"Strasbourg is the ‘capital’ of Europe, the headquarters of the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights are located there. We send our appeal to the French president, but also to the European institutions, including the Council of Europe.

"For me, as the granddaughter and great-granddaughter of Armenians who survived the [Armenian] genocide, it is unacceptable that the people's right to a dignified life, the right to exist, also is being violated today," Barseghian emphasized.
