A group of French politicians, who were in Armenia between Tuesday and Thursday in order to deliver urgent aid to the people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) through a humanitarian convoy, have issued a statement following their visit to the beginning of the Lachin corridor.

These heads of several cities and regions of France, responding to the call of the Coordinating Council of Armenian Organizations of France (CCAF) and the authorities of Armenia and Artsakh, collected urgent humanitarian aid in support of the Armenians of Artsakh, Armenpress informs, citing the X—former Twitter—account of Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo.

The delegation that arrived from France states that responding to the call of the mayor of Paris, they decided to send a humanitarian convoy to Armenia, consisting of non-perishable goods, to be delivered to Artsakh. The convoy consisting of ten trucks meets the needs expressed by the Artsakh authorities for the survival of their civilian population and to cope with the particularly harsh winter conditions in the region, as well as to prevent the growing threat of child malnutrition.

These French officials record that, since this summer, the time has come to act amid the alarm raised by the international community, first of all by the UN Security Council, which convened an emergency meeting, on August 16, on the dire humanitarian situation in Artsakh.

With their aforesaid statement, these French politicians have called on French President Emmanuel Macron to take steps toward the lifting of the Azerbaijani blockade of Artsakh.
