The Los Angeles City Council has announced that the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Granville Avenue, next to the Azerbaijani consulate, will be named "Artsakh Square."

The respective opening ceremony will take place at 1:30pm local time on Thursday at the designated location.

Azerbaijan's nine-month illegal blockade of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) has prompted Los Angeles City Council President Paul Krekorian and the city council to take this step and name the aforesaid area “Artsakh Square.”

According to Krekorian, joint efforts of him and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to present the situation to US President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken have failed.

Calling Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev the "executioner of Baku" and describing those in the Azerbaijani consulate as his "preachers," Krekorian expressed regret over the neglect of the terrible situation in Artsakh by the Biden administration.
