The Press Council of Azerbaijan issued a statement in connection with the interview given by the former Artsakh Ombudsman Artak Beglaryan and the rock musician of Armenian origin Serj Tankian to the BBC TV channel, in which they talked about the humanitarian catastrophe in Artsakh.

The Azerbaijani organization accused the TV channel of "propaganda of Armenian separatism."

In particular, it stated that “recently, the BBC channel, including the Azerbaijani service of this media organization, broadcasts biased materials and puts forward prejudiced statements about relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the current situation in the territory inhabited by Armenians in the Karabakh Economic Region of Azerbaijan.”

“Expressing the opinion of the media community of our country, as well as the interests of our entire people, the Press Council comes to the conclusion that the current approach of the BBC to the realities of independent Azerbaijan is undesirable. Either this media organization must learn to respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, offer apologies, and be capable of demonstrating its sincere intention through its practical actions, or its operations in Azerbaijan should be suspended, and its accreditation revoked,” says the statement.
