The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan on Tuesday had a telephonic conversation with Annalena Baerbock, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
Reflecting on the actions of Azerbaijan's armed forces against the sovereign territory of Armenia on September 1, Mirzoyan emphasized that it was another manifestation of Azerbaijan's continuous aggressive behavior. The Armenian FM added that Azerbaijan is trying to destabilize the situation in the South Caucasus, and that this should be condemned by the international community.
Parallel to this, the consequences of the daily deepening humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh for its population, especially for vulnerable groups, and the urgency of overcoming this crisis were emphasized on both sides.
Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia's position regarding the lifting of the blockade of the Lachine corridor in accordance with the decisions of the International Court of Justice, and stressed the need for international players, including the EU, to take clear steps in this regard.
Lauding the targeted messages made by the partners so far, the Armenian FM emphasized that, unfortunately, they are not enough to record a positive change on the ground, to lift the de facto blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh, and to return Azerbaijan to a constructive arena.
Also, the interlocutors touched upon the possible steps to advance the bilateral cooperation agenda between Armenia and Germany.
