MOSCOW. – Nagorno-Karabakh conflict issue is too significant to settle it in a near future, head of the Black Sea-Caspian center of Russia's Institute for Strategic Studies Eduard Popov told Armenian News-NEWS.am commenting on the statement by the Second Secretary of the Office of the security problems of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elchin Huseynli. Huseynli had stated that OSCE MG co-chairs create artificial hampers to prolong Karabakh conflict settlement. However, Popov believes that the statement can be interpreted in two ways.

“It is either expectation to get everything and at once or results stressing pragmatic position. The first case sounds romantic in the diplomatic relations, the second, famous as ‘ask the impossible to get the minimum’ is more possible,” Popov stated and added that such statements are not something new for the official Baku.

Azerbaijan has stated for many times its discontent for OSCE MG. Negotiation process especially in the frameworks of three sided group Medvedev-Aliyev-Sargsyan brings fruitful results. Politics is the art of possibility and not desirability. This refers mainly to such emergent issues as settlement of territorial and ethnographic conflicts, the political scientist said.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Huseynli has stated on October 11 that OSCE MG creates an artificial hampers to prolong Karabakh conflict settlement. Representative of Azerbaijani MFA blamed MG that it operates for 20 years has a serious responsibility, while the co-chair are not ready to accept the responsibility yet.
