Armenia’s ally Russia had an opportunity to help us in 2020-2022, but did not. Armenia’s Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan has said in an interview aired by the Public Television.

He noted that after the four-day war in April 2016, Armenia is being drawn into deep conflicts, security challenges are being created.

"So that this security challenge will force Armenia to give up its sovereignty. What is the main thesis in Armenia for the last two-three years, that Armenia is allegedly unable to ensure its security that is why Armenia should not have independence; it should be part of the union. That is the whole idea," Grigoryan said.

He stressed that the Republic of Armenia is Armenian-centric and has not changed its foreign policy. "We also cooperate with India. Do you know what kind of serious security cooperation we have; are we going to the West or India now? We are on the way to increase our sovereignty.

From January-February 2021, Armenia cooperates with Russia so that our Defense Ministries reform our army in close cooperation. After that, there were attacks by Azerbaijan in May and November, and Russia seemed to give up on it. Our experience also showed that there is another way, it is the reform of the RA Armed Forces, which is moving forward intensively, we have the opportunity to strengthen our army by finding other partners, such as India, which is very willing to help Armenia," Grigoryan said.
