“The exclave of Artsvashen, which is part of the sovereign territory of Armenia, for example, has been under Azerbaijani occupation for more than 30 years,” he said.
The head of the government emphasized that it is extremely suspicious that the Republic of Armenia has been referred to as "Western Azerbaijan" under the highest patronage and at the official level in Azerbaijan. Moreover, this is how Armenia is presented in schools, universities and the Azerbaijani media.
This implies preparation for organizing a new military aggression against Armenia. According to the Prime Minister, this is also one of the main obstacles to the progress of the peace process.
At a meeting with journalists on May 22, Nikol Pashinyan clarified what this means: Armenia recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan with an area of 86.6 thousand square kilometers, and stated that these 86.6 thousand square kilometers of Azerbaijan also include Nagorno-Karabakh. He also said that Armenia has 29.8 thousand square kilometers of territorial integrity; the Tigranashen community of Ararat region and six villages of Tavush Province are not included.
