The pilot of a military plane ejected safely after his warplane crashed on Saturday in Iran's southern Fars province, Tasnim reported.

Fakhreddin Keshavarz, director general of Fars Airports Organization, said the military training plane crashed near Lake Parishan, southeast of the city of Kazeroon.

Keshavarz said the crash was caused by a technical malfunction, saying the pilot landed safely after activating the ejection system.

Tasnim has learned that the crashed aircraft was a Sukhoi fighter belonging to the aerospace forces of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Similar crashes involving the same Russian-made fighter jets took place in Fars province in August 2022 and in Hormozgan province in September 2022.
