Majid Chegeni, executive director of the National Iranian Gas Company, said the country is ready to expand cooperation with friendly countries, including Russia, in exchanging technologies and equipment produced in the gas sector, Mehr reported. 

"The session comes at a time when the energy sector is entering a new era due to regional and global circumstances caused by some processes and unilateral inclinations of some countries. While such conditions pose some challenges, it does not mean that we are facing unpleasant situations. On the contrary, we can make the right decisions in the current circumstances by strengthening cooperation structures and mechanisms, creating new, creative and lucrative opportunities in various fields and overcoming emerging threats and challenges," Chegeni emphasized at the annual meeting of the Russian Gas Society held via videoconference.

The consumption of fossil fuels and the process of investment and production of fossil fuels in projects have recently been criticized at international conferences, he said, warning that "the extremism of some countries will not help achieve environmental goals."

It is hoped that by focusing more on realizing the scope of cooperation, the path to harmonious and synergistic prosperity of the gas industry will be paved, Chegeni added.
