The authorities of Azerbaijan have extended the period of custody of Ruben Vardanyan, the former Minister of State of Nagorno-Karabakh.

His imprisonment was extended for four months.

Vardanyan, together with several other high-ranking figures of Nagorno-Karabakh, was captured by Azerbaijanis after the latter’s military aggression of September 19-20, 2023 and subsequent occupation of the entire territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Ruben Vardanyan is accused of "financial terrorism," "participating in the creation and activities of armed organizations or groups not provided for by law," and "illegally crossing the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan."
