Armenia has set itself the objective of bringing to account all the perpetrators of war crimes. Artur Hovhannisyan, secretary of the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction, stated this during Friday’s press briefings at the National Assembly of Armenia, commenting on the matter of whether Armenia plans to bring the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to account within the framework of Armenia's joining the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

"Our [i.e. Armenia’s] objective is to call to account for all crimes. As for which entity will be held accountable is a purely legal matter. Our objectives are not directed against a specific person or organization. Our objective is punishment for the committed crime; this is our political objective," Hovhannisyan said.
