YEREVAN.- Armenian-Indian center for information and communication technologies opened on Monday at the Yerevan State University.

The opening ceremony was attended by Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Indian Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Sachin Pilot.

The center’s objective is to expand cooperation in the field of information technologies, create a special climate for ICT professional education and conduct scientific-research work in the sphere, government’s press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, PM Sargstyan stressed that it will give an impetus to implementation of research work and educational programs in IT sector. He said that center’s professors had undergone training in India and their experience would also help for development of Gyumri technopark.

Tigran Sargsyan also stressed that the center is equipped with PARAM supercomputer, the only one in the region.

The program was realized by Armenia’s Enterprise Incubator Foundation and Idnia’s Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) with assistance of World Bank Armenia office.
