Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has strongly condemned the governments of the Islamic world that continue to assist Israel "in betraying the Palestinians," Mehr reported.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks at a gathering of Quran reciters and memorisers on the first day of the holy fasting month of Ramadan in the capital Tehran on Tuesday.

"In the Islamic world, some governments are helping the enemies of the oppressed Palestinian people. God willing, they will be punished for this treachery," Ayatollah Khamenei addressed the gathering.

He added that the resistance and resilience of the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip "will bring the Israeli regime to its knees."
