Genocide prevention agenda remains among the priorities of Armenia's foreign policy, and Armenia actively cooperates with international partners in this regard. This is stated by the Republic of Armenia Ministry of Foreign Affairs (RA MFA) in response to Sputnik Armenia's written inquiry about what the MFA is doing to advance the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

The MFA of Armenia emphasizes that every year on December 9, the International Day—approved by a resolution submitted by Armenia to the UN General Assembly in 2015—of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime, a number of conferences and discussions are held in Armenia and abroad.

"On December 4, 2023, in fulfillment of the above-mentioned resolution, an inter-session discussion dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide was held in Geneva, during which the subject of discussion was the spread of hatred through the use of social media platforms. The RA Foreign Minister made an opening speech at the event," the message also states.

In addition, the Armenian MFA specially emphasizes that every two years Armenia submits the "Genocide Prevention" resolution to the UN Human Rights Council.

Also, Armenia is the initiator and organizer of the "Against the Crime of Genocide" global forums, which took place in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2022.

"In 2024, the 5th Global Forum ‘Against the Crime of Genocide’ is planned to be held At present, the concept of the two-day event is being developed", the Armenian MFA added.

It ensures that Armenian diplomatic and consular missions abroad hold and participate in events and commemoration ceremonies dedicated to the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
