YEREVAN. – Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan on Friday received James Truchard co-founder, president, and CEO of National Instruments Corporation, and appreciated this company’s contribution to IT development in Armenia.  

Sargsyan expressed a conviction that a country like Armenia, which has a small market and economy, is obligated to and could become a specialized part of developed global industry, Presidential Press Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.           

In the President’s words, by declaring IT as Armenian economy’s key branch, the Government of Armenia factored in the country’s academic and educational level, its corresponding traditions, high-quality specialized human resources, as well as Armenia’s geographical position, the restrictions put upon its transport communication links, and its scarce natural resources.     

In his turn, James Truchard noted Armenia is a very convenient place for implementing National Instruments’ projects.  

In terms of cooperation and developing the Corporation’s activities in Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan underscored National Instruments’ project of founding modern research laboratories at the State Engineering University of Armenia. According to the interlocutors, this project, which will cost around US$ 6 million, would become a serious incentive toward raising Armenia’s standing among international platforms as a global center for engineering.
