The escalation of tension on the border with Azerbaijan, it turns out, depends more on Russia than on Azerbaijan itself. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, in an interview with the Public Television Company—and commenting on the latest statement by the spokesperson of the Russian foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, about the reasons for the possible escalation of tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

Zakharova had said that the possible escalation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict depends "only on the extent to which Yerevan will allow the EU, US, and Great Britain to destructively influence the situation of the region and the country".

"Great Britain is not invited to the meeting in Brussels [slated for Friday between Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken]. False narratives are being created around this event. It means escalation [of tension] with Azerbaijan depends more on Russia than on Azerbaijan. From Mr. Zakharova's statement, we can assume exactly this, which is very worrying," said the secretary of the Security Council of Armenia.
