In the process of reconstructing the Dutch Fort de Rooovere the engineers managed to create an "invisible bridge".

The construction is part of the coastal fortification line due to which several towns and villages were connected by stone and sand ramparts. If there was the need for defense the ramparts were covered by water. The construction was destroyed in the 19th century and has been restored recently as a monument and touristic sight.

From a distance the bridge is truly invisible. Only the heads of visitors are visible above the water.

The bridge was recognized as “The best construction of 2011”.
