Normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is impossible if Armenia does not leave Nagorno-Karabakh and turn down groundless statements against Turkey, said Turkish MP from Nationalist Movement Party Sinan Ogan to Caucasus Journalists Network online conference.

He argued that ratification of Armenian-Turkish protocols is a “difficult issue”.

“I am a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in Turkish Parliament. I do not believe that the Parliament will ratify these protocols. Before ratification Armenia should withdraw from the occupied lands. Moreover, Armenia should give up groundless allegations against Turkey," said Ogan. "Although the U.S. have put forward certain requirements with respect to this issue, Turkey would not fulfill them.”

The protocols on normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey were signed on October 10, 2009 in Zurich. However, the ratification process in the two countries was stopped due to unconstructive position of Turkey, who put forward preconditions post factum.

The question of ratification was removed from the agenda of the Turkish Parliament and then re-introduced.
