YEREVAN. – Issue of dismissing Armenia’s Syunik Governor Suren Khachatryan is neither under discussion nor is included in Thursday’s session of the executive body of ruling Republican Party, MP Lernik Aleksanyan said at a press conference on Wednesday.

“The issue is in legal sphere, criminal case is instigated. I suppose the issue has deep roots, which is connected not only with beating. The behavior no matter who implemented is not nice. I was not present, and read it in press. I believe there are dark points in the incident,” he said.

In response to whether it is possible that the incident was instigated in order to get rid of the Governor, Aleksanyan said that there are many methods of getting rid of someone. Moreover, he does not believe that Suren Khachatryan just beat the businesswoman, the incident has a prelude. Khachatryan is not an accidental person though emotional enough. He knows who to beat and for what, MP concluded.

Armenian News-NEWS.am earlier reported that Armenia’s Special Investigation Service instigated a criminal case against Armenia’s Syunik region Governor Suren Khachatryan. Armenian businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan has filed the lawsuit as a result of being beaten by Khachatryan at Armenia-Marriot hotel on Monday.

A forensic medical expertise was appointed for Hambardzumyan. However, she rejected it as she said that there are no injuries but pains.

Hambardzumyan was invited at the Service still on November 10 within the frameworks of the case prepared on the base of media publications.

Hambardzumyan had published a statement on November 10 that Khachatryan has stolen equipments amounting to AMD 102 million from Lijvazk-Tey gold mine, which belongs to the businesswoman. Armenian Prosecutor General’s Office has sent this publication to the Special Investigation Service for proper investigation.
